HUGE RECOVERY BILL
PASSED BY THE SENATE
PRESIDENT'S TRIUMPH
(United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) WASHINGTON, June 4. The Senate passed the 3,722,000,-000-dollar Recovery and Relief Bill after Administration leaders had l crushed a determined drive by antiNew Deal Democrats and Republicans to curtail the President's spending power; The voting was 60 in favour and 10 against. It is a triumph for President Roosevelt, who demanded a free hand in the spending of the huge fund. The Bill, which is designed to maintain five million jobs, relieve distress through the dole, and increase consumer purchasing power, is almost certain to go to a conference with the House of Representatives, which has opposed several Senate amendments.
