KEEN PLAY IN TOP GRADE

UNIVERSITY BEATEN IN SECOND DIVISION

y The sixth series of Rugby, championship matches in Wellington, decided on Saturday afternoon (except for the Poneke-Athletic top division match, which was played today), provided much keen ■play. Wellington had-a-stem task in winning from Johnsonville at Athletic Park; this match being strenuously contested all the way. The Hutt-Petone match at the Hutt Recreation Ground was for the V Mcßain Shield, and in this Petone assumed the ascendancy in the second spell and won. A feature of the day's results was the first success of, Wellington College Old Boys, Who had a narrow win from Marist Bros. Old Boys at Anderson Park. A field gpal was their only score, but it gave College Old Boys a win by one point. In the second division, University's*, run of successes was broken, St Patrick's College Old Boys winning quite decisively and drawing level, with University at the top of the table, a move also accomplished by Eastbourne.
