DEFICIT LAST YEAR
FOXTON HARBOUR BOARD
(Special to the "Evening Post.")
PALMERSTON N., This Day.
Faced with a deficit on its last year's | working and with little prospect of overtaking its overdraft out of revenue, the Foxton Harbour Board decided at its annual meeting yesterday to strike a rate to cover the amount of its requirements. "Shipping by way of the port has shown a decided setback during the past year," stated the chairman (Mr. J. Linklater). The present trend seemed to be in favour of centralisation of the means of distribution of goods through the main ports.
