OTTAWA, May 18.
The Leader of the Opposition in th® Senate, Mr. Arthur Meighen, demanded that the Dominion exert its authority in the provinces to meet a crisis which he said was threatening the disintegration of the Dominion, and said that* provincial legislation, even if it is constitutional, can be disallowed in favour of the public good.
Repudiation was rampant in th« prairie provinces, with its centre in Edmonton, he declared, with the result that industry was paralysed becausa no one was willing to invest' money, particularly in Alberta under the Social Credit Government.
