U.S.A. Kilbirnie. The weekly card party of the Kil- < birnie Auxiliary of the Returned Sol- , diers' Association, held at the clubrooms, Bay Road, last night, was well , attended, and the evening passed very , pleasantly. Mrs. Sims and Mr. H. Synnott won at bridge, and Mesdames , Cadwallader and Synnott qualified for consolation prizes. Mrs. Gordon and Mr. J. Morgan won the "500" prizes, and Mrs. Salmond and Mr. C. Kraus consolation prizes. Competitions were won by Mrs. S. K. Smith and Mr. H. Q. Bruce. The ladies' committee will hold an afternoon party tomorrow. Catholic Seamen's Institute. The members of the A.M.I.C. have been very busy lately entertaining the men from the many ships in port. Some very successful evenings were heia, dancing, community singing, and items being enjoyed by all. Special thanks are due to Missi Hazel Martin for arranging ballets, duos, and solo items for all these socials. Mr.. Bannin gave much pleasure with cornet solos and Misses J. Coker and V. Ashenden's humorous recitations were highly appreciated. .Mrs. T. Tracey, Miss Davidson, Mr. Stent and many visitors from the ships delighted all with their singing. These evenings are looked forward to by many visiting seamen.

A.O.F. Dance. A very enjoyable dance was held retently by Court Lady Glasgow, AOF There was a very large attendance of brothers, sisters, and friends.. After an enjoyable time supper and the singing of Auld Lang Svne" brought the proceedings to a close. Among the many dancers were Mr and Mrs. Walker, Mr, and Mrs. Anset Mr. and Mrs. Sinclair, Misses JoJrtNovell Blanche Carr, Evelyn SeyTElsa Purdey, Grace Morris, Inn Nelson, Annie Parker Maureen Morriss Olga Robertson, and Messrs. Lawton! Hoy, Morriss E. Hemingway L Levy, N. Jelly, R. Burnett, Bendall, Anset, and J. Winter.

Afternoon Party. Mrs R. W. McJennett was hostess at a very pleasant afternoon party, held in honour of Miss Dora Georgeson, whose marriage to Mr. W. J. Mar shall will take place shortly. The party was held at the residence of MrsJ. G. Marshall, Island Bay. The large drawing-room was artistically decorated with chrysanthemums and roses. Items given by Mesdames Castle, Leslie Hendra. Duncan, Ewen, and Cook were much appreciated, and both competitions were won by Mrs. Howard Cook. Miss Georgeson received many useful and artistic gifts for her future home. Those present included Mesdames Marshall, Georgeson P Jackson. Blewitt, Cox, Mountjoy, Madden, Gregory, Kennedy, Cook, Duncan, Ewen, Bott, Castles, Pumfrey, Varcoe, Irvine, McKean, Barclay, Cowley, Thomson, Fanthorpe, Chalker, Hendra, Leslie, and Misses.Georgeson, Paton (2), Nicholls. Dudley, Sellars, D. Leslie, Castles, N. Wright/ V. Cripps, h. Hillaker, N. Jordan, F. Palmer, and G. McJennett.

A Popular Ball. Always the decor or the Post and Telegraph ball is something to look forward to. This year the same good efforts are being made to secure good effects, these to include special lighting and original ideas generally. The ball will be held in the Town Hall as usual, early in June, and from the interest already shown it is anticipated that it will be a very great success.
