FOOD SHORTAGE
LAKE WAIKAREMOANA
POSITION RELIEVED
A shortage of food suplies at the Lake House, Waikaremoana, which was becoming serious, was relieved today from Rotorua, states the "N.Z. Herald" of today.
Early this morning a service car left Rotorua heavily laden with bread, meat, vegetables, butter, and eggs, in an attempt to reach the lake. Road men and the Public Works Department had already cleared several slips and effected temporary repairs to bridges, and the relieving car managed to get as far as Ruatahuna. There it was possible.ro transfer the supplies to a car from the lake, which returned safely. Since then another large slip has come down over the' road, which is now effectively blocked.
