"The other night I went for a walk after tea. On a rock beyond Fishermen's Creek I saw hundreds of seagulls. All were crying, so that it sounded like a crickets' shorus. Now and then: one squawk rose above the others. Some ■ seagulls deliberately pushed their friends.off the rocks. Others swiftly wheeled down ■to the waves.
