EMPLOYMENT TAXATION. . AN MAY 1, an instalment of the Registration Levy will become payable by all male persons twenty years of age and over, other than those entitled to exemption. The first instalment of the Employment Charge of 8d in the £ on income other than salary or wages derived during the year ended March 31, 1838, also falls due on the same date. It is essential that a declaration of such income ("nil" or otherwise), together with the declaration of "Industrial and Occupational Status," be furnished during May by males (including Natives) who have attained the age of twenty years. In the case of a "nil" declaration of income. Part II of the form must be completed. Women (including Native women) twenty years of age or over whose income other than salary or wages is in exesss of £50 are also required to furnish similar declarations. Declaration forms and further information may be obtained from any Moneyorder Office, together with details of the classes of persons who are exempt from the Registration Levy and the Employment Charge. Persons who fail to furnish declarations as and when required render themselves liable, on summary conviction, to a fine of £50. A penalty equal to 10 per cent, of the amount of tax due will be incurred on any instalment not paid within one month of the due date.
