PSYCHIATRIST'S EVIDENCE

SYDNEY, April 19.

An inquest was opened today into the bomb outrage at Lidcombe on January 28, when Alfred Smith and his wife were killed in their home, which was wrecked.

The chief testimony was given by a psychiatrist, Dr. J. McGeorge, who in evidence said that at the request of the police he kept a patient named Sidney Shannon under observation at the reception house, during which time he heard Shannon declare: "I killed Smith, I" threw a bomb under the bed. I'm mad. I did the Lidcombe bombing." I The doctor added that at other times Shannon talked incoherently. However, when nobody in authority was present Shannon appeared quite sane, and his mental symptoms appeared to be simulated.
