NET REVENUE FALLS

EXPENDITURE INCREASES
Higher expenditure and a fall in net revenue from £744,988 to £580,419 over the period from April 1 of last year to March 5 of this year are shown in an abstract of the railways working account in the Gazette. Revenue amounted to £7,899,756, compared with £6,962,446 for the preceding corresponding period, an increase of £937,310. Expenditure, however, was £7,319,337, an increase of £1,101,879. The net revenue was therefore £580,419, as, against £744,988. .For the four-weekly period ended ,on March 5, the net revenue was £152,266, as compared with £162,789 for the corresponding four weeks last year. The revenue amounted to £803,820, an increase of £70,453, and expenditure to £651,554, or an increase of £80,976.
