KITCHEN TEAS

'A pleasant afternoon Was spent at the home of Mrs. G. D. Peacock, Mornington, recently, when a "kitchen tea" was given in honour* of Miss Islay Hall, whose marriage. to..Mr. Selwyn Peacock will take place shortly. There were games and competitions, and an elocutionary item was?':given by Mrs. Teward. After afternoon'tea; had been served the company adjourned to the lawn where the parcels were opened by Miss Hall assisted, by Miss E. Stott, Auckland, one of the bridesmaids, and much amusement was caused by the clever rhymes forwarded with the numerous gifts, Mrs. Exton being the winner ,of the best rhyme. Among those present were*Mesdames D.M. and C. Hall, Hutchison, Youmans (2), Nicholson, Glass, Donaldson, Worthing"tdn (Auckland), Gaunt,- E. Miller, Wylde, C. end E. G. Exton, W. Nolan, J. Walker, J. Rowatt, Charman, A. Wright, and the; Misses Remington, Baillie, Ogg, Collins, Henderson, Guerin, T. Peacock, H. Walker, B. Travers, J. McMahon, and M. Wright.

. Another "kitchen tea" was that given, by the Misses M.. Williams arid B. Thorburn recently in honour " of Miss May Magavin, whose marriage to Mr. A. Flaunty will take place shortly. Competitions, which helped to pass the time pleasantly, were won by Mrs. A. C. "Jacobson, Mrs. M. Anderson, and the Misses P.. Vause, B. Bush, and J. Langdon. The party came to a successful conclusion with the opening of parcels containing, useful and oleasing gifts.for the bride-elect.
