Mr. S. S. Dean, on the motion ol Mr. M. Marks, was elected chairman of the Wellington Fire Board today, in place of Mr. "N. W. Nelson, whose resignation as manager of the Wellington branch of the New Zealand Insurance Company rendered him ineligible. The Chief Justice (Sir Michael Myers) will preside over the civil session of the Supreme Court in Wellington next month, and will be assisted by Mr. Justice Reed, who will conduct the criminal session starting on May 2.* Mr. Justice Reed will also preside over the Napier session (starting on May 23) and the Gisborne sea. sions (May 31), the Chief Justice taking the Hamilton sessions .on May 3.
Mr. Justice Blair will conduct tha sessions of the Supreme Court at Palmerston North (commencing May 2), Wanganui (May 16), and New Plymouth (May 23).
Mr. A.. F. Ellis, M.Sc., who has for two years been science and mathematics master at Invercargill Technical College, has been appointed education officer at the Royal New Zealand Air Force base at Hobsonville. Mr. Ellis was for some years assistant at the Christchurch West District High School.
The Chief Justice (Sir Michael Myers), Mr. Justice Ostler, Mr. Justice Kennedy, Mr. Justice Johnston, and Mr. Justice Fair will start sitting in Wellington oh June 13 as the second division of the Court of Appeal.
Mr. R. Stacey, of Wellington, on the motion of Mr. J. H. Reaney, and Mr. I. E. S. Park, of Levin,- on the motion of the Solicitor-General (Mr. H. H. Cornish, K.C.), were admitted as barristers and solicitors of the Supreme Court today by Mr. Justice Reed. Mr. Waipaina Matehe Awarua, of Wellingiton, was. admitted as a solicitor on th** motion of Mr. A. J. Mazengarb.
