AUSTRALIA AND N.Z.

DIRECT CONSULTATION

AGRICULTURE PROBLEMS

(Received April 7, 9 a.m.)

CANBERRA, This Day.

Announcing that a representative of the New Zealand Government would probably attend the May meeting of the Australian Agricultural Council, Mr. Cameron, Acting Minister of Commerce, said that this was one of the most significant developments in the affairs of the Council since its formation in 1934. The presence of a Minister from the sister Dominion would be in accord with the spirit of the Empire Producers' Conference and would facilitate direct consultation between the countries of the Empire on marketing production problems.

New Zealand, he added, should benefit at the Council from the exchange of views, which had proved so valuable to the producers of tha Commonwealth, while experts in Australia would certainly benefit from contact with technical advisers from New Zealand.
