BOBBY CALF TRADE
FARMERS CRITICAL
PROPOSAL UNDER FIRE
(By Telegraph—Press Association.!
PALMERSTON N., This Day,
The proposal for the rationalisation of the. bobby calf industry under the control of the Dairy Board, with particular reference to the vote at present being taken on the subject, was discussed at some length yesterday by the Manawatu provincial executive of the Farmers' Union, the upshot being the passing of a resolution asking that another vote be taken when the proposals had been fully explained. . One opinion was that the proposal had a political atmosphere, and another that the whole thing was being rushed through too quickly. It was also stated that private interests were making an effort to influence farmers against the scheme. . ■Mr N Campbell, who is chairman of the Awahuri Dairy Company, sa^ that some voting papers had been returned marked "Too much control, indicating that farmers were fed up with the amount of control at the present time.
