BOXING TONIGHT.
The season of the\-Wellington Boxing Association wiUyget away with a flying start tonight;, when Jackie Sharpe, of Australia, and Jack Jarvis, of Eltham, will meet in a fifteen threeminute round professional contest at the Wellington Town Hall. They are probably the two most prominent lightweights in New Zealand today, Jarvis being the Dominion lightweight champion of over two years' standing, and Sharpe having built up a solid reputation for himself. Both have a very vigorous style and carry a knock-out punch. In their match last year, a hectic battle, there was little between them, and the result was a draw. Both are reported to be very keen' to get the decision, and the public can be assured of seeing a bout full of action, skill, and interesting boxing. Both have suffered defeat at the hands of Stan Jenkin, welterweight champion of New Zealand this season, and the result of tonight's bout is hard to predict. There will be a number of excellent amateur preliminaries. Particulars are advei'tised.
The following are the amateur preliminaries: —D. Mullet (Newtown) v. S. Scott (Tartan); A. Byrne (Moera) v. I. Watson (Miramar); T. Dunn (Moera) v. J. Page (Tartan); B. Murphy (Moera) v. L. Mulholland (Newtown); and V. Bass (Miramar) v. Higging (Hedberg"«).
