TRAFFIC OFFENDERS

A very heavy list of offenders against the City Council traffic regulations was dealt with by Mr. J. G. L. Hewitt, S.M., in the Magistrate's Court today. Mr. A. R. Cooper appeared for the council.

For breaches of the parking regulations, David Christie, James Fearon, Albert Edward Robinson, Gavin Abbott, Henry Conyngham, Aubrey Cook, Kenneth Robert Davis, Edward Gilbert, Ronald Grieve, Frances Ann Harty, Gordon Mason Hill, Alexander Hobson, William James Johnston, Thomas Keogh, Perry Norman, John O'Connor, Albert Edward Poll, Donald Robertson, Stanley Robertson, Campbell Graham Scolon, Isaac Silverstone, Cyril Robert Valentine Swan, Roy Dalkeith Thomson, John Henry Walker, Edward Whiteacre, and Percy Egmont Winchcomb were fined 10s and costs. Edgar Williams was fined 10s and costs on each of two charges, and Karl William Dowling was fined £1 and costs. For exceeding the speed limit, Ray Goringe was fined 30s and costs; Alexander Patrick Kerr, £2 and costs; William Albert Monk, 30s and costs; John Imlach, 30s and costs; Harry Kennedy, £2 and costs; Joseph Nattras, £2 and costs; Phillip Russell, £2 10s and costs; and Clement Ryan £2 10s and costs. For 'failing to signal, Norman Johansen was fined £1 and costs. Stanley Perry; James Albert Pegram, and Leslie Rawley were fined 30s and costs for a breach of the right-hand rule. James Brookes was fined £1 and costs for negligent driving; Henry Reeves £1 and costs for driving without due care and attention; Bernard Vincent Tully £2 10s and costs for driving in a manner which might have been dangerous. For having defective silencers, Charles Aylmer Pownall and Thomas Udall were fined 30s and costs, and Leslie John Wilkinson 10s and costs. For proceeding against a traffic signal, Robert Day and Frank Pcttengell were fined 30s and costs. John Gray was fined 30s and costs for cutting a corner, Sidney Albert Joiner £2 and costs for failing to pull up in half the visible distance ahead, and David Kilpatrick £2 10s and costs for failing to give way to pedestrians on a crossing. For having no licence Joseph Nattras was convicted and ordered to pay costs and for having no warrant of fitness he was fined 10s and costs. For having no licence Charlie Sherlaw was fined £1 and costs. ,
