NEW PHOSPHATE SHIP
Another new motor-ship for the British Phosphate Commissioners for use in the Pacific was launched at Port Glasgow last month. She is the Triadic, a sister-ship of the Trienza, launched last December by the same builders, Lilhgows, Limited. Designed to facilitate the loading of phosphates in exposed anchorages, the. Triadic will travel chiefly between Nauru and Ocean Islands and Australia and New Zealand. She has four holds with large self-trimming hatches and is about 435 feet in length. Her machinery is manufactured by Kincaid, Limited, Greenock, and consists of one singleacting diesel engine developing 3600 brake horse-power, giving a trial speed of 13 knots. The christening ceremony was performed by Miss Dinah Gaye, daughter of Mr. Arthur Gaye; the United Kingdom member of the British Phosphate Commissioners.
