UNEMPLOYMENT TAX

(To the Editor.)

Sir,—During his recent visit to Foxton the Hon. H. T. Armstrong is reported to have stated that the unemployed had been reduced from 55,000 to 5000, the latter being unemployable due to physical weakness or other causes. I respectfully submit'that the taxpayer may reasonably claim a reduction' of the tax of 8d in the £ in the proportion of 55 to 5. I hope the Government will give this claim its favourable consideration, —I am, etc., • C. H. SEVILLE.
