ME. NUGENT WELCH'S ART.

Watercolours by : Mr. Nugent Welch are always attractive andworth studying,., but those ,at present on exhibition, at McGregor Wright's, Lambton Quay, are especially so, for Mr* Nugent Welch has explored new territory.. He has forsaken for the time being his favourite coastal haunts and has been into the country. The charm of simple rural scenery, with/ its trees ..end smiling meadows, hassuppjanted rocky coast lines, and no one will deny that Mr. Welch1 has achieved notable results by the change., His rich and luminous painting reveals his great skill in handling masses of colour without any heaviness, this being geen particularly in the groves of trees which he has painted. Then, too, there are some beautiful skies, notably at dawn and at dusk.
