RESULTS AT HASTINGS

HASTINGS, This Day. — Play in the opening 'matches of the Hawke's Bay Polo Club's Yankee tournament attained a high standard yesterday. There was keen competition and most of the games were closely contested, several being fully up to the New Zealand tournament standard. Results, with handicaps, are as follows:— Open Events—Sonior grade: Hawkes Bay defeated Poverty Bay B, 6-0; Rangitikei drew with Waipawa,. 3-3; Poverty Bay A defeated Masterton A, 9-2; Hawke's Bay • defeated Wallingford, 6-0. Junior Grade.— Hastings defeated Atua 8-3; Taihape A defeated Taihape B, 8-0; Masterton B defeated Waimarama, 16-0. Handicap Events—Senior: Poverty Bay B (handicap 10) defeated Hawke's Bay (6), 10-6; Waipawa (13) defeated Rangitikei (6), 13-9; Poverty .Bay A (3) defeated Masterton A (6), 12-8; Hawke's Bay, (scr) defeated Wallingford (3), 6-3. . ■ ' Junior Grade— Hastings (scr) defeated Atua (4), 8-7; Taihape A (4) drew with Taiha-pe B (12), 12-12; Masterton B (16) defeated Waimarama (12), 26----12. : , '_
