PRAISE FOR OFFICIALS

A word of credit is due to the officials for the capable manner Jn which the Manawatu Trotting Clubs Meeting at Awapuni on Saturday was controlled. The programme was run oil without the slightest hitch, and although the last race was dispatched later than the carded time of starting there was some excuse for this. In the Ladies' Bracelet a good deal of trouble was experienced with the large field, and the start was further delayed owing to one of the competitors falling and breaking some of his gear. The starting of Mr. D. Stevens deserves commendation, and his work compared more than favourably with any that has been seen at recent meetings.
