EMPIRE PRODUCERS AGREE

REGULATION OF FLOW

SYDNEY, April 4.

The Empire producers' conference today accepted -with slight "modification the British proposals for regulating the flow of Dominion produce into Britain.

The resolution as adopted recommends Empire producers to co-oper-ate to establish commodity councils on the lines of the Empire Beef Council and the International Beef Conference, created under the British Live Stock Industry Act, 1937. The duty of these councils will he to advise their constituent organisations regarding the flow of supplies-to the United Kingdom.

The resolution accepted the Ottawa order of preference giving the local producer first place on the Home market, the Dominion producer second place, and the foreign producer third place. The commodity councils will be expected to institute a continuing survey of market supplies and conditions and in consultation with Empire Ministers take the necessary action to secure the expansion of existing and the creation j of new markets. ... ,' The delegates were the guests of the Prime Minister (Mr. J. A. Lyons) at Canberra during the weekend. Mr. F. Waite (New Zealand) < today described the capital as'the most wonderful1 garden city in the world and a complete revelation to the New Zealand delegates. , ' . .
