CLUBS EARLY OFF MARK

Trinity Methodist Churcii, Newtown, was the venue for the members of the Methodist Harrier Club, who held the opening run of their season on Saturday. The club captain (Mr. J. Walker) welcomed officers, members, and supporters of the club. There were'representatives present from the Baptist, Presbyterian, and University Clubs. After the patron (Mr. S. Trevethick) had declared the season open, the club members followed a trail leading south to Houghton Bay and returning through Melrose and along.the. lower slopes of Mount Victoria." ■ ■ ' ■' '

The 36 members of the club, present, besides some 20 supporters, were served with afternoon tea by the management committee with the' help, of .lady members of Trinity Church.:,. f.. ■:

SCOTTISH CLUB; '

■ Twenty-five members- attended ;th« Scottish Harrier Club's'opening, run at Island Bay. The' president A (Mr.* W. Ballantync, sen.), in declaring the season open, congratulated the club; on its past successes and wished it another prosperous season. ■ J ; .

The run was of four miles, the trail leading up the hill and- down into Happy Valley. The road was followed to the run-around, thence back ,v to Island Bay. .

After a very enjoyable run afternoon tea was served by lady supporters of the club in the Baptist Church school■room. ;

The next run, which is the first to count for the attendance medal, will be from Lyall Bay next Saturday, at ,2.45 p.m. ■ .1 "

C.V.M. CLUB

. The C.V.M. Harrier Club held i it« opening run from the residence of >M& B. Stonehouse, Ropata Street, -Lower Hutt. There was a good muster and an encouraging percentage of new members. • .

. A run-in was held from Connolly Street, A. Callaghan' being first home, [followed by A. Thomas and S. Hepple* Eton.

Afternoon tea was provided by Mrs. Elonehouse, and thanks were tendered lo the host and hostess by Mr. Hepple* ikon.
