CONTROL OF PRESS
ISSUE IN ALBERTA
REPORTER TO BE ARRESTED
(Received March 26, 1.40 p.m.)
EDMONTON, March 25.
The attempt by the Aberhart (Douglas Social Credit) Government to frustrate the Supreme Court and to attempt to control the Press assumed a new aspect today; when the Legislature ordered the arrest and incarceration of Donald Brown, a reporter on the "Edmonton Journal," who was charged with misreporting a debate in the House.
Insistence by the Opposition that Brown should be heard first and that the member lodging the complaint should take proceedings through the Courts was over-ridden tonight. The Sergeant-at-Arms was unable to find Brown.
