GIRLS COLLEGE
ANNUAL SPORTS
Neither competitors nor spectators relished the strong northerly wind which swept over Kelburn Park yesterday when the Wellington Girls' College held the annual athletic sports. The girls, however, showed their usual keenness in the events, and the parents and old girls were most good humoured in enduring the unpleasant weather. Among those present were Mrs. Knox Gilmer, member of the Board of Governors; Miss Batham, exprincipal of Wellington East Girls' College; Miss Isaacs, principal of Wellington East Girls' College; Mrs. Urquhart, president of the Old Girls' Association; and Misses Ward and Gibson, ex-members of the Wellington Girls' College staff. The senior championship was very closely contested. The winner was Barbara Sherwood (15 points) and the runner-up Norma Henderson (14£ points). The junior championship was won by Marjorie Kinross with 12| points, Nita Hawken being second with 10 points. The results are:— Senior Long Jump.—Barbara Sherwood, 1; D. Pur die, 2; N. Henderson, 3.
