Waves of an extensive westerly depression continue to cross the Tasman Sea. and the South Island, and winds between north-west and west have therefore continued to. prevail. The weather has been mostly fair in eastern coastal areas and the northern portion of the North Island but elsewhere cloudy to overcast and with intermittent rain in western areas from Taranakl southwards, some heavy falls having occurred in Westland.
