AUCKLAND, February 12. The Auckland Trotting Club's February Meeting opened at Epsom today in showery weather. The attendance was 5000 and the track was heavy after a thunderstorm overnight. Sandusky led early from Hillcrest and Axminster, and then gave way to I Refund and Uenuku. Commencing the last half-mile, Refund just led from Sandusky, Uenuku, and Horsepower, the field being in close order with the exception of Equipoise, who broke 1 early and was tailed off. Refund broke at the three-furlong mark, Uenuku going forward from Horsepower and Sandusky, while Refund recovered his gait to take fourth position. Horsepower led at the turn and won decisively by three lengths and a half from Sandusky, with three lengths to Axminster. Refund was fourth, followed by Hillcrest and Uenuku, ■ who broke at the turn. Times: 3min 38sec, 3min 39 3-ssec, 3min 41 2-ssec.

Noble Prince led for three furlongs, when he broke and interfered with Lady Fame, the pair being pulled up before going a mile. Star Pronto'was then left in command to make play from Kewpie's Triumph, Fernbrook Lass, and Kenworthy. Entering the straight Star Pronto led from Kenworthy, who was clear of Kewpie's Triumph and Crocus. Kenworthy finished strongly to win by a length and a half from Kewpie's Triumph, .who was a length ahead of Star Pronto. Our McKinney was a poor fourth, followed by Fernbrook Lass and Auto Machine. Times: 4min' 54 2-ssec, 4min 51sec, 4min 55 2-ssec.
