NO VISIT TO INDIA THIS YEAR

The India Office announces that the King has communicated his decision not to visit India during the winter of 1938.:; ■■ ■ r k- ~ ; "His Majesty feels, he would not be justified: in. imposing any additional burden .on ' the existing revenues of India at a time when the calls on^ them in connection with the inauguration of provincial autonomy are' already heavy." . ', ■ ■ \ The King expressed his regret, and announced his intention of visiting India as soon as circumstances permit. ■■>•■' : The reasons for the King's decision are fully understood here, and have caused'no surprise. 'i .■■■■'..,. \ "The Times" says that the outlook for a- visit might be . brighter a. few months hence, but it is necessary to take the decision now.
