STATE HOUSING
MORE CONTRACTS APPROVED
Tenders for the erection of 88 more dwellings under the State housing scheme have been approved by Cabinet, according to an announcement made yesterday by Mr. J. A. Lee, Parliamentary Under-Secretary in Charge of Housing.
In Blenheim a contract for the erection of ten houses, four of them semidetached, has been let to W. J. Thompson and Co.; and in Nelson a further contract for six houses has been lei. to T. H. Hughes and Son.
In Riccarton, a contract for four houses has been let to the Ullrich Construction Co.; in Dunedin, a contract for six homes on the Liverton Estate has been let to the Love Construction Co., Ltd.. and for fourteen on the Wakari Estate to J. Donaldson; in Mosgiel, a contract for two houses (the first instalment of the scheme) has been let to F. D. Boswell; and in Gore, a contract for eight homes has been let to McKinlay and Murray. At Morrinsville, J. C. Franich obtained the contract for the erection of ten houses: at Eltham, D. Nees will erect two homes (the first instalment); at Otahuhu a contract for nine houses has been let to E. S. Sorensen. Ltd., and one for two homes to T. Clements. F. G. Rose will.build the first of the four-house units for pensioners at Point Chevalier, Auckland, and at this place W. A. Phillips has been granted the contract for the erection of fourteen dwellings.
