The Rev. Archibald Hunt and Mrs. Hunt, who have been on an extended j visit to Te Awamutu, have returned to Wellington. Mr. H. S. Gilberd, of Wellington, is ; attending the conference of the Institute of Opticians at Dunedin. . The death of Mr. Gerald FitzGerald, formerly a director of the Kelburne and Karori Tramway Company, is recorded -with regret in the company's annual report. ■ ' \ Mr. and Mrs. R. Brooke-Taylor, of Wellington, left for Dunedin last night. Mr. Brooke-Taylor is to attend, the conference of the Institute of Opticians. Mr. Geoffrey Myers returned to. Wellington, by the s.s. Cambridge after five years' residence in England. For the past twelve months Mr. Myers has been resident surgical officer at Ancoats Hospital, Manchester. The Rev. J. R. Blanchard has returned from a holiday at Pelorus Sound, and will resume his ministry; in St. John's Church tomorrow .; Mr. H. M. Hunt, chief superintendent for New Zealand of the Colonial Mutual Life ' Assurance Society, will leave today by the Maetsuycker for Java and Singapore. He will be accompanied by Mrs. Hunt. Mr. L. A. No'tley was a passenger oh the Rangatira for the south last night. He will attend the conference of the Institute of Opticians. Mr. J. H. Pringle, who is; attached to the Suva staff of the Union Steam Ship Company of New Zealand Limited, is at present on furlough "in, Wellington. After a brief visit to Dunedin by air, Mr. Pringle will retura to Suva by the Niagara from Auckland on February 22. Mr. A. Prince, of the Wellington Harbour Board, will leave tonight on a holiday visit to Nelson. Mr. R. G. Kain, of Wellington, arrived this morning from the south. The Hon. Adam Hamilton, Leader of the Opposition, arrived in Wellington this morning from the south. Mr. Justice Blair will leave for Napier tomorrow. Mr. D. J. Archer, county chairman ; and chairman of directors of the Buller Valley Dairy Company, will-leave for ' Wellington on Monday to represent the West Coast at the dairy conference. /Mr. Hope Gibbons leaves Wanganui on March 17 for a trip to Great Britain, travelling via Sydney, Singapore, and Suez Canal, and across the Continent to Great Britain. He will return via Panama early in October. Mr. Gibbons will be accompanied by his daughter, Mrs. A. R. Gower, of Lo\ver Hutt, and Misses Ruth Gower and Marjorie Barton, daughter of Mr. J. S. Barton, of Wellington. Mr. T. W." Lonsdale, of the Fields Division of the Department of Agriculture, who is retiring at the end of this month, was met by his colleagues in the Wanganui district, and presented with a leather travelling bag. General regret was expressed that Mr. Lonsdale iiad reached the retiring age, and speakers recalled his excellent work .as manager of the Ruakura and Moumahaki State farms prior, to joining the Fields Department. Mr. S. W. Smith, chairman of the Bay of Islands Dairy Company, Limited, arrived from Auckland today to attend a conference of the Dairy Board next week. . Dr. Tremewan, the Wellington doctor selected by the Joint Council of the Order of St. John and the: New Zealand Red Cross Society, leaves by, the Wanganella today to join Dr. Rob.ert Grey, who has now reached Hong Kong.,
