BOLT AND SHARK
To be struck by lightning and hurled into the sea, then dragged out almost from the jaws of a large shark, •was the experience of Mr. S. Marais, a Natal (South Africa) High School teacher, while fishing from a boat at St. Lucia. Mr. Marais, it appears, was struck by the only flash of lightning of the storm, and was hurled into the sea several yards from the boat in a semi-paralysed condition'. His companions went to the rescue, and pulled him out just as a large shark arrived on the scene. Mr. Marais, who suffered severely from shocks, lost the use of his legs, which were massaged for two hours before he recovered sufficiently Lo be brought home.
