THE KING'S CUP TROPHY
The trophy for the King's Cup, which will be; decided at Mowbray/Launceston (Tasmania), next Tuesday, js""fashioned from 18 carat gold, and is a reproduction of a classical design created in the reign of King Charles the First. The cup, which is of neat size, has an acorn on the top* and there are oak leaves worked on the body of the cup itself. ' The trophy stands on a plinth of fine Australian bla'ckwood. ' It is not anticipated that there will be many horses from outside Tasmania remaining in the acceptance, ■ so' that Tasmanian stables are expectant of their first' success 'in .'the race. ,':, Reports'^ to hand suggest that Donaster, Balkan Prince, Egmont, arid" Yaririga are all-unlikely runners, but that Princess Pam, Prince Lion,' Tuckerbox, and Keeping Watch may make the trip for the contest.:, The Tasmanian favourite .is Illawarra, with Princess Pam most preferred of the possible visitors. New Zealand interest wfll centre in Senegal, sold to go to Tasmania a couple or more years ago.
