NIGHT WINGS PLEASES
(Special to the "Evening Post.") DUNEDIN, February 1. ■Further preparation* for the Ta'panui and Dunedin Cup Meetings were carried out at Wingatui this morning. The tan and the course proper, on which the trestles were about halfway out, were used for fast work. The Dunedin Cup candidate High Glee pleased by the easy manner in which he came right away from Natty when running five furlongs in lmin 4sec on the tan. On the same track, Ortyx ran six furlongs in lmin 18sec, the last fiye in lmin 6sec, but she had little in reserve. Night Wings was going particularly well alongside Pink Del and Lumiere at the end of seven furlongs on the tan in lmin 34sec, the last six in lmin 20sec. Spanish Lad travelled four furlongs on the same track in 51 l-ssec. He has rounded up nicely since the last meeting. Norseman went six furlongs comfortably on the tan in lmin 20sec. The Ta^anui Handicap candidate Pink Robe finished attractively to beat Song Boy and Delrain at the end of seven furlongs on the course proper in lmin 34 2-ssec. Wyn gave Guste and Scotsden a good five-lengths' start over six furlongs and got up to beat the first-named in lmin 21 3-ssec. , P Powell will ride Pink ,Robe and Adina at Tapanui, and J. Dooley will pilot Ardchoille and Aspire. Gold Boa has been scratched for all engagements at the Dunedin Meeting.
