For the first day of the Wairoa Racing Club's Meeting there is a record crowd. The weather is cloudy but fine and the conditions are excellent. Results: — Trial Handicap, £75; 6 furlongs.—2 Gay Mimic, 8.10, 1; 1 Thala, 8.10, 2; 3 Minnow, 9.0, 3. Scr.: Helios. Half a length. Time, lmin 14 2-ssec. District Hack Handicap, £85; 6 furlongs.— 1 Puccini, 8.9, 1; 4 Defend, 8.4, 2; 2 Helios, 9.0, 3.- Scr.: Ua-la, Opoho, Peter Piper. Three-quarters jgjE a length. Time, lmin 16sec.
