SHIP DISCOVERY ANTARCTIC VOYAGE

LEAVING ON MONDAY

DUNEDIN, This Day.

When the Royal Research vessel Discovery II leaves Dunedin on Monday, she will steam south-east into the Pacific sector of the Antarctic and will probably meet the ice edge about the north-east corner of Ross Sea andthen work eastward. ."•■"•■■*.. It is expected that the firsthand to" be sighted will be the South Shetlands. The ship will then proceed to. Port Stanley, in the Falkland Group, a voyage of about five weeks from New ■Zealand. From there she'will proceed to South Georgia, the centre of the southern whaling industry,, s and will then return to the ice for a period before going on to Cape Town. This will complete the first half of the voyage. From June to April the Discovery will work to the southwards of South Africa, returning to London about May of next year. ~
