TONGAN BANANAS
NEW ZEALAND CONTRACT
1 (By Telegraph— Pi'dss Association.) ; AUCKLAND, January 24.
The New Zealand contract for 1933 for the purchase of banana supplies frpm Tonga* for which tenders were recently called by representatives of the Tongan Government has been secured by Laery and Company.. Limited, of Wellington; The contract provides for the shipment from the island each month of approximately 1500 cases, the number depending on the quota determined by the New Zealand Government. Thu has not yet been disclosed.
The first shipment arrived at Auckland this morning by the Matua, the bananas being in excellent condition. The vessel was met by Mr. E. C. Emeiiy, manager of Laery and Com-1 pany, Limited. H.e returned to Wellington by the Limited express.
