DANNEVIRKE AUTUMN SHOW.

The iiiclut. . of district and provincial classes in .the catalogue of any A. and P. Show is desirable as giving a stimulus to local competition. Several of these figure in the prize schedule for the Dannevirke A. and P. Show on February 8 and 9. In Jerseys there is the Lister Cup for most points in classes confined to breeders in the Hawke's Bay provincial district. In the same section the following classes are open to breeders in the Hawke's Bay provincial district: Cow in milk; best pair of cows in milk (entered in |N.Z. Jersey Breed Book); heifer calved since July 1, 1936; heifer calf, calved since July 1, 1937; bull calf, calved since July 1, 1936; and bull calf, calved since July .1, 1937. In addition, there are four classes confined to members of the Dannevirke District Jersey Cattle Club. In Friesians there is a class for heifer calved1 since July 1, 1936, to be exhibited, but not necessarily bred, by a resident of the Hawke's Bay provincial district. In the sheep sections there are classes in Romneys, Lincolns, and Southdowns for best district bred ram of the respective breeds. In the farmers' classes in the sheep section there is a challenge cup for most points, limited to district exhibitors. Generous support by farmers of the district and members of the association is one way in which the standard of the show can be maintained and it is hoped that such will be readily forthcoming, especially in the special classes referred to. General entries close on January 25, but for the home industry section the cookery entries do not close until the morning of the first day of the Show. All others, including needlework, close on the date mentioned. All particulars in relation to the show can be obtained on application to the secretary, P.O. Box 38, Dannevirke.
