SUSPENDED FOR FASTING

DEAN IN TENNESSEE

VIEWS DISAPPROVED

ATTEMPT TO PROVE MAN

IMMORTAL

MEMPHIS (Tennessee), Jan. 20.

The case of a cleric who was personally attempting to prove man immortal on this side of the grave took ft different turn when Bishop Maxon, head of the Episcopal diocese of Tennessee, suspended Dean Israel Noe, of the Cathedral of St. Mary at Memphis, for fasting for 19 days.

Dean Noe is weak and gaunt after his long abstention, his only nourishment having been wine at Communion. He continued his offices throughout the fast, but lost nearly seven stone in weight.

He insisted throughout that he was within reach of a perfect existence on a spiritual -plane of life. The Bishop's suspension order declared that Dean Noe's manner of living and expression of religious convictions are foreign to the views of the great majority of the members of ikS Church. '
