V.M.C.A. TOUR

AUSTRALIAN EXPERIENCES

Several enthusiastic accounts of the interesting trip which they are enjoying have been received in Wellington from members of the Wellington Y.M;C.A. touring party, who are at present in Australia.

j -The party of forty arrived at Melj bourne early this month, after having visited Milford Sounds. At Melbourne the group was met by representatives of the Melbourne V.M.C.A. and the Government Tourist Bureau. Members of the party are loud in their praise of the services rendered by these two bodies, who spared no effort making the New Zealand visitors at home in Melbourne.. The city and its nearby attractions were thoroughly explored, and, although the weather was unusually cool for this time of the year, the visitors were greatly impressed by the various city and scenic attractions. The Melbourne V.M.C.'A, organised a motor tour for the party, comprising a drive round Port Phillip to Western Harbour, and visiting Camp Manyung, the association's holiday camp for men, and also the V.M.C.A. boys' camp at Shoreham, where 240 boys were enjoying their vacation. An excursion was made to Phillip Island, which is the foremost island holiday resort near Melbourne, and on another occasion the party drove through the Dandenong Ranges where they saw some beautiful expanses of bush-clad mountains. Following an impressive service at Scots' Church, the party departed from Melbourne by overnight express for Sydney, where they are spending eleven days in sightseeing in and around the city. In Sydney the weather has been very hot, and the surf beaches and harbour resorts have been popular. Three days were spent in the Blue Mountains and Jenolan Paves, while a one-day trip to Newcastle would permit members to inspect the steel works.

The party, which is travelling under the leadership of the Rev. L. J. Boulton Smith, will leave Sydney tomorrow, arriving in Wellington on Monday.
