GOOD THROWING

STREAMERS FOR INVALID

Just before the Wanganella sailed last night with the New Zealand Empire Games team, a young lady, who was sitting in an invalid chair on the wharf quite a distance from the ship and watching all the. gaiety, fun, and enjoyment that was taking place, was agreeably surprised when a roll of streamers landed in her lap. On looking up she saw standing on the highest deck of the Wanganella a young man smiling with satisfaction at his successful throw.

So pleased was he with his efforts in his first throw and also to be holding the other end of the streamer, that he had two or three more throws with equally good supcess, so that by the time the Wanganella moved out, the young lady and the streamerthrower were-each holding the ends of some three or four streamers.

"The identity of the young man is unknown to me," said one who related the incident today, "but judging by the distance and the accuracy of his throws, it is assumed that he is used to throwing the javelin. At any rate, the young lady appreciated his successful efforts with the streamerthrowing and wishes him good luck and every success at the Empire Games."
