NEW PLYMOUTH, January 15.

The New Plymouth horses with engagements at Trentham had their final gallops this morning, when all the fast work took place on the plough, which was fast.

After going fast over the first two iuriongs, Namara was eased up in the straight to run five furlongs in lmin 4sec. It was intended to take him to the Takapuna Meeting, but this idea nas been abandoned, and he will now race at New Plymouth and Hawera. Bonny Glow was a length in front ot Book Law at the conclusion of a mile in lmin 46 l-ssec. They went fast early, running the first half-mile in 52sec, and Bonny Glow finished solidly. She has made good progress since racing at Stratford and should oe prominent in the highweight events at Trentham.

With a light boy up, Lady Kyra was responsible for the best gallop of the morning when she ran seven furlongs in lmin 29Jsec, the first half-mile in olsec. She finished full of running. Assisted by Dancing Lady over the last three furlongs, Race Call showed fine speed to cover five furlongs in lmin 2 l-ssec, reeling off the last halfmile in 49sec. He carried out his task m great style. Silver Gift appeared to have something in reserve when running half a mile- in 52sec.

Lady Kyra, Bonny Glow, and Race Call left by train for Trentham this morning, but Race Call is the only one engaged on the first day.
