THE WAIKATO SEAT
MR. LYE WILLING TO STAND
An announcement has been made by Mf. F. Lye,' of Pukekura, that lie intends to notify the National Party •that 'he is prepared to. contest the Waikato'. Seat at the General Election as the party's candidate, states a Cambridge correspondent. Mr. Lye was the member for Waikato for ten years. His first term was .from 1922 to 1925, and after being defeated he was again elected in 1928. He served until the last election, when he was defeated by the present member, Mr. R. Coulter. For two years he was chairman of the Agricultural, Pastoral, and Stock Commission, and for six years chairman of the Public Petitions M to Z Committee. Mr.; Lye is a well-known Cambridge farmer and a member of the Cambridge Electric Power Board, and a former director -of the Cambridge Dairy Company.
