With the surrender of Ihe Santa Clara Convent at Teruel. the Spanish Government claims, to have received the submission of 2000 combatants and 2000 civilians.
Refugees told pitiful stories of the 27 days' ordeal since the beginning of the Government offensive. One prisoner said he had had only two sardines, a little bread, and lprdly any water daily during the past five days. Two hundred officers and noncommissioned officers are being held for trial, and the remainder of the prisoners sent to Valencia. Hendaye reports that the insurgents made an air raid on the suburbs of Barcelona, 20 persons being killed.
