LONDON, January 9,
The correspondent of "The Times" at Riga reports that the Soviet has ordered the immediate liquidation of the fambus Meyerhold State Theatre at Moscow as the institution is alien to Soviet art. A committee will decide the future occupation of the manager, M, Vseviod Meyerhold, whose ideas until recently have been held up to the world as the boldest and most brilliant in the development of revolutionary theatrical art. Even the latest English official guide describes hi« theatre as not only markedly influencing the Communist State, but also earning a wide reputation abroad by the quest of new ways of affecting an audience.
M. Meyerhold clashed with the authorities months ago, and the Press accused him of alien mentality and propagating anti-Soviet ideas, but instead of admitting his error, he had the audacity to defend himself.
