The general forecast for the Dominion as a whole, issued at noon today for the ensuing twenty-four hours, is for light to moderate south-westerly winds. But about and to the south Df Cook Strait there will be a change later to north-westerlies again, and these will be freshening tomorrow. A few isolated showers are probable in eastern districts, but otherwise the weather will be fine. Temperatures cool but rising.

The weekend weather was dominated by an intense depression which by this morning had passed away to the southeast. An anticyclone now extends over the Dominion, with higtiest pressure in the far north, but a fresh depression, however, is now located over southeastern Australia and is moving eastward. Moderate to strong northerly to north-westerly winds prevailed on Saturday, and gale force was reached in places about and to the south of Cook Strait, but by morning a change to strong south-westerlies had taken place over most of the country. General and in many places heavy rain, fell during Saturday night, and on Sunday there were scattered heavy falls, especially at night, with thunder in places. By this morning, however, an almost general improvement in. the weather was in evidence. The southerly winds have decreased in force, and temperatures are much cooler than they have been for some time.

Auckland's weather on Saturday was cloudy to overcast, heavy rain in the afternoon accompanying a moderate northerly wind. The weather on Sunday was also unsettled, and there were frequent showers, the wind being a fresh westerly. Yesterday's maximum temperature was 72.1 degrees and the minimum 57.2. The weather this morning was cloudy with a south-westerly breeze.

Wellington had a warm and humid day on Saturday, with a fresh and squally north-westerly wind. Hours of bright sunshine totalled 6.5, and the maximum and minimum temperatures were 72.4 and 56.8 degrees respectively. Heavy rain fell during the early hours on Sunday morning, 119 points being recorded at Kelburn up to 9.30 a.m. Sunday morning was cloudy, but the afternoon was sunny, although a strong north-westerly continued to blow. Late yesterday afternoon, however, the wind changed to a moderate southerly, and during last night there were frequent heavy showers, 18 points of rain being recorded at Kelburn. Thunder Was heard early this morning. The maximum temperature yesterday was 68.8 degrees and the minimum 48.4.

In Christchurch on Saturday it was mainly cloudy, and some rain fell during the afternoon, the wind being a moderate south-westerly. Sunday's weather was cloudy to overcast, a moderate northerly wind changing to a fresh south-westerly early in the day. Rain fell there yesterday afternoon and last night, a total fall of 41 points being recorded. Yesterday's maximum temperature was 69.9 degrees and the minimum 44.1. Cloudy conditions were prevailing this morning at 9 a.m., the wind being a light south-easterly.

Dunedin had a dull, misty and wet day on Saturday, with- a moderate breeze from the east and north-east. Sunday's . weather was cold and changeable, with a strong southwesterly wind. Frequent showers fell during the morning, but the weather improved during the afternoon. On Saturday the rainfall totalled 75 points, and a further 11 points were recorded yesterday. At 9 a.m. today the weather was fine and clear, with a fresh south-westerly wind. 9
