PRODUCE IN AUCKLAND
Good supplies of all varieties of local fruits were available at the Auckland markets at the end of last week. Choice dessert apples were in demand, but inquiry for plums was poor, small fruit being almost unsaleable. Outdoor tomatoes came forward in large quantities, values being low, and small and 'second-grade lines being hard to quit. Oranges, lemons, and choice peaches were in good demand. Strawberries were in fair demand only. Crops of this fruit will soon be over. Potatoes supplies were heavy and prices fell. Peas and beans also were plentiful, good lines selling well. Lettuce, cucumbers, and marrows were in oversupply. Choice red Warren pumpkins were in keen demand. New season's onions were in heavy supply and prices dropped a little. The supply of poultry was heavy and the demand very poor. Prices dropped considerably. Prices for duck eggs "/ere a penny a dozen lower all round.
