The New Zealand bowling tournament opened this morning, but after heavy weekend rain the greens were heavy and in some cases tricky. " Play began with the singles with 250 players engaged on sixteen greens. The first round provided several upsets. The most noticeable performance was that of Haworth (Canterbury).
