SAFETY OF CHILDREN
IN TIME OF WAR
EMERGENCY MEASURES AT
HOME
LONDON, January 4.
On the ground of its adverse psychological peace-time effects, the Board of Education opposes gas drill for school children till absolutely necessary.
Local authorities meanwhile will work v out emergency measures, including (lie closing of schools in dense areas on the outbreak of war. The ideal solution would be the evacuation of scholars to safer country districts. Schools located on the routes of raiders should be provided with shelter trenches and gasproof rooms. Children in less exposed areas should carry gasmasks to school.
