TRUCK DERAILED
' NEAR PUKERUA BAY
A truck on a goods train was derailed on the city side of Pukerua Bay at 8.20 a:m. today, delaying the 7.50 a.m. passenger train from Paekakariki to Wellington. Passengers on that train were conveyed from Pukerua Bay to Wellington by buses arranged by the Railways Department.
The line was cleared at 9.15 a.m. The Limited, howevery had had a little trouble in the King Country,: and was already delayed when it reached Packakariki. The train stalled going up Paekakariki hill, and had to be taken up in tvv'o sections, resulting in its arrival at Wellington two hours late. The Napier express had to wait for the Limited to get clear at Paekakariki, and was also delayed in arrival at Wellington.
