NO DEMONSTRATION
WHITE HOUSE DECISION
WASHINGTON, December 18.
The White House has announced that no naval demonstration is planned in connection with the Panay sinking. The Secretary (Mr. Stephen) stated that whatever arrangements had been made for fleet manoeuvres were drawn up long before the incident.
He declared that President Roosevelt is extremely gratified at the attitude the nation and the Press has taken in connection with the sinking.
